Tolerance Induction Program Visit #4

Visit 4 was April 4-5, 2022. This time we decided to have Syed go with him. It was nice having some time to myself but I admit I was nervous about giving up control!  I feel like I have a system in place already but it’s important for Syed to have his own experiences with this process.

All went well and they had a blast!

At this visit Jacob successfully challenged quail egg yolk, navy bean, and pumpkin seed. He introduced duck egg yolk, coconut, and his first anaphylactic allergen, pistachio!

We will take pistachio very slowly and he won’t be done treating it for a total of 4 cycles which will put us into 2023.

Logistically, this time I chose to purchase one way flights instead of a round trip. They flew into Long Beach Airport which made it quick and easy to pick up their rental car.

They flew out of LAX because LAX has more options for late afternoon direct flights. I had them coming home the same day as Jacob’s last appointment instead of staying an extra night. But they don’t want us flying out within 4 hours of an introduction in case of a reaction. So it worked out to catch a 3:30 pm flight home. I think I’ll be doing this from now on, buying one way flights because it gives me the flexibility to mix and match, and make changes if needed based on prices.

They stayed at The Cove Hotel in Long Beach for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The Cove was the most affordable option for us this time as other hotels have started increasing their prices for SoCal families. While they don’t have the convenience of kitchenettes, it worked out just fine for a short trip. We will definitely stay again!

They hit up the usuals, In and Out, Sensitive Sweets, and this time they went to the Aquarium of the Pacific in search of axolotls!

Overall, we’re moving right along and we’ll be back in June!! ??
